MOBILE RE-ORDER APP NAILS INCUBATOR CATEGORY IN 2014 PITCH CONTEST
CHICAGO, IL (March 1, 2014) — GimmeAnother recently tied for first place as an incubator winner in the Connected World Magazine Startup Contest held at the Connected World Conference as part of the 2014 Chicago Auto Show.
Connected World chose an incubator startup winner and also a winner from the university category. GimmeAnother was chosen as the incubator winner in a tie with fellow app startup PARKNAV. And the winner from the university category was WellCar, from the University of Kansas. Winners will be featured in an upcoming issue of Connected World.
“This startup competition is a platform for creative ideas looking to gain some traction in a booming marketplace. With connected technology, anything really is possible, and each of the participating incubators and universities is proof of that,” says Peggy Smedley, editorial director of Connected World magazine.
According to Connected World, the competition was open specifically to companies working on technologies involving any type of data collection or remote operations. These technologies included monitoring and tracking devices; drone technologies; monitoring and control apps for home, fitness, healthcare, and security; vehicle technologies; supply-chain technologies; or remote manufacturing technologies. After contenders were given seven minutes each to pitch, the judges narrowed down the field. In the second round, startups were given 20 minutes to pitch on stage.
“We’re honored to have been named a winner in the incubator category,” said Kevin Cullum, GimmeAnother’s operations manager. “We appreciate all the support and feedback we’ve received from the Chicago startup community. Competitions like this keep us on our toes, help us hone our business and also aid in getting the word out about what we do.”
